CROSS COUNTRY

The Swartz Creek cross country team ran in the Genesee Invite on Saturday at the Cummings Center in Mount Morris. Senior Caden Pifer won the race outright, finishing in 16:27.64. As a team, the Dragons placed fourth of six teams with 86 points. Behind Pifer was sophomore Cameron Smith in seventh place overall with 17:21. Jacob Beslac was the third fastest Dragon at 19:24. Andrew Domanik, Caleb Kawa and Malachi Kingen all broke 20, running 19:49, 19:56 and 19:59 respectively.

The Swartz Creek girls came in second overall of five teams with 51 points, trailing only Goodrich. Junior Darbey Johnson placed fourth overall at 20:19. Sarah Cooke was right behind her, finishing in 20:35 in fifth place. Sophomore Lily Majestic ran 21:14, good for seventh overall.

The Dragons run again Friday at the 2017 MSU Spartan Invitational. — J.O.
